Employment Class Actions

  • Represented a manufacturer in an employment class action in California involving allegations that it failed to provide proper meal and rest breaks, deducted amounts for uniforms, and failed to pay employees all wages due.  At the trial court level, we obtained a denial of certification for all of the plaintiffs’ proposed classes and subclasses.  The California Court of Appeal upheld two of the three class denials and remanded the case for further consideration of the propriety of certifying one of the three classes.
  • Represented a brokerage firm in a purported class action alleging failure to pay overtime compensation.  We defeated plaintiff's motion for class certification and compelled arbitration of plaintiff’s individual claim.
  • Represented a major investment banking firm in a class action brought by female brokers alleging gender discrimination.  The case settled on favorable terms.
