William L. Von Hoene is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department focusing his practice on internal investigations, complex commercial litigation, and professional responsibility litigation. Mr. Von Hoene has represented clients in major contract disputes, SEC investigations, breach of fiduciary duty matters, legal malpractice matters, criminal matters, and appeals before the Illinois Appellate Court. Mr. Von Hoene’s work involves all phases of litigation including discovery management, motion practice, trial practice, and negotiations.
Mr. Von Hoene received his B.A. in sociology from Stanford University in 2008. He received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2013. While at NYU Law, Mr. Von Hoene was a member of the Review of Law and SocialChange and an advocate with the Federal Defender Clinic, where he represented individuals charged with petty offenses in the Eastern District of New York. After graduating from law school, Mr. Von Hoene worked with the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic as a PILI Fellow. From 2016 to 2017, Mr. Von Hoene served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sharon Johnson Coleman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Mr. Von Hoene previously served on the Next Generation Leadership Board for the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois and the Young Professionals Board for the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic. When Mr. Von Hoene is not working as an lawyer, he teaches Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes at his dojo in the Bronzeville neighborhood.
