Clients, particularly those in the financial services and business sectors, seek her counsel in a broad range of national and international matters. Ms. Fitzpatrick joined Jenner & Block after serving as an associate at a large international firm, where she focused on general commercial and white collar and securities litigation.
Ms. Fitzpatrick has an active pro bono practice. Her recent work has included drafting submissions to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child on the harms caused to LGBTI children by laws criminalising homosexuality, and representing three Jamaican individuals in an appeal to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council against a sentence of life imprisonment. In 2014, she was a member of a team that collaborated with Oxfam to conduct an analysis of Kenya’s implementation of the African Union’s Maputo Protocol on women’s rights. The report was commended by The Financial Times in its “Social Responsibility” category in it list of the Top European Innovative Law Firms. Ms. Fitzpatrick was also part of a team that submitted amicus briefs in the landmark gay rights case Windsor v. In 2013, the US Supreme Court invalidated the relevant section of DOMA. More recently, she assisted in drafting an amicus brief in the Obergefell v.
