Steven R. Trybus is a litigator who focuses on complex patent disputes. He is experienced in a wide variety of technologies, ranging from the life sciences, including gene editing techniques, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices to the chemical arts including polymers. He has also worked on matters involving electronics, including software, telecommunications and optical media as well as mechanical devices such as industrial machines, containers, and food processing equipment. He concentrates on patent litigation and related counseling with significant experience in contested proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In addition to patent infringement suits, Mr. Trybus has experience in defending law firms and patent attorneys from allegations of malpractice in the practice of patent law.

Mr. Trybus counsels clients in the worldwide protection and enforcement of intellectual property and has experience coordinating foreign proceedings, including patent oppositions, as a part of multi-national disputes. Mr. Trybus is AV Peer Review Rated, Martindale-Hubbell’s highest peer recognition for ethical standards and legal ability. He has been recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer in intellectual property litigation.

Mr. Trybus is a member of the firm’s Patent Litigation and Counseling and Information Technology Disputes Practices.  He is involved with the Federal Circuit Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Owners Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the PTAB Bar Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.  He is a member of several other bar and professional associations.
