Representative Matters:

  • Successfully defended against breach of contract, unjust enrichment and consumer fraud claims by obtaining a dismissal order with prejudice related to certain alleged “illegitimate” fees charged by the defendants in a class action matter litigated in the Circuit Court of Kane County.
  • Successfully defended against breach of contract and unjust enrichment claims by obtaining a dismissal order with prejudice related to certain alleged “illegitimate” fees charged by the defendants in a class action matter litigated in the Northern District of Illinois.
  • Successfully obtained a favorable settlement for a client who filed a derivative shareholder action alleging claims of breach of fiduciary duties, aiding and abetting breaches of fiduciary duties, breach of contract and tortious interference with a contract against the Board of Directors of a company it held a minority interest in, the company’s majority shareholders, and the company that was litigated in the Delaware Chancery Court. 
  • Successfully obtained a preliminary injunction and then permanent injunction on behalf of a client who filed a breach of contract action in the District Court of Oregon seeking to recover substantial inventory being wrongfully withheld by the defendants.   
  • Successfully defended against a multi-million dollar breach of contract claim by obtaining a dismissal order with prejudice related to certain alleged unpaid fees in a matter litigated in the Circuit Court of Cook County.
  • Successfully represented clients by obtaining summary judgment in their favor in connection with the breach of numerous franchisee and guaranty agreements, as well as a management agreement in a matter litigated in the Circuit Court of Cook County.
  • Successfully represented client in several fraudulent transfer actions by successfully obtaining judgment after several trials conducted in the Bankruptcy Court in the Northern District of Illinois. Also, obtained several favorable settlements for the client on the eve of several of the trials.
  • Successfully defended client in fraudulent transfer action by obtaining judgment relieving her of all liability after a trial conducted in the Bankruptcy Court in the Northern District of Illinois.

Pro Bono Matters:

  • Successfully obtained a settlement for a woman trafficked from Mexico to the United States and assaulted by her trafficker.
  • Successfully defended client against first-degree murder charge by obtaining a favorable plea that allowed the client to be released after spending two years in custody awaiting trial in a matter prosecuted in the Criminal Court in Cook County.
  • Successfully obtained relief on behalf of the named plaintiff and a class of more than 15,000 Illinois residents who were wrongfully indicated for child abuse or neglect under a void regulation utilized by the Department of Family and Children Services, including a final decision entered in the client’s favor from the Illinois Supreme Court.
