Penelope P. Campbell is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Practice.  Ms. Campbell advises lenders, borrowers, corporations, universities, real estate developers and investors in a wide variety of complex commercial real estate transactions, including real property acquisitions and dispositions, commercial and retail leases, sale leasebacks, real estate financings and real estate aspects of corporate stock and asset sales.

Ms. Campbell regularly represents large corporations, such as General Dynamics, Gulfstream and Honeywell in day-to-day real estate transactions, complex construction issues and real estate aspects of public and private mergers and acquisitions and securities offerings. Developers, investors, lenders and borrowers seek her counsel in a variety of complex real estate transactions, and she represents both landlords and tenants in industrial, office and retail lease transactions.

Ms. Campbell also represents a major, national university with respect to its real estate matters, including campus expansion and development.

Prior to joining Jenner & Block, Ms. Campbell worked for more than seven years as a press secretary for Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White. In that position, she served as spokesperson for the Secretary of State’s office and explained the policies, programs and goals of the administration to the media; advised Secretary White on policy issues relating to media; drafted press releases, speeches, policy statements and background briefings; and developed and implemented media outreach strategies related to office initiatives. She continues to advise The Jesse White Foundation on a pro bono basis, including the financing, development and construction of the recently opened Jesse White Community Center and Field House on Chicago’s near north side.  Ms. Campbell now serves as Secretary of the Board of The Jesse White Foundation.  

Ms. Campbell is a Commissioner of the Illinois Electronic Recording Commission.  She also served as co-chair of Jenner & Block’s Associates’ Committee from 2016-2017.

Ms. Campbell graduated cum laude from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in 2001, receiving a B.S. in Journalism, with a concentration in Latin. She earned a J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2009, graduating magna cum laude.
