Nicholas E. Ballen is an associate in the firm’s Bankruptcy, Workout and Corporate Reorganization Practice. He joined the firm in 2015.

Mr. Ballen received his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected to the Order of the Coif. During law school, Mr. Ballen was a member of the Elder Law Journal, and served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Michael J. Raphael in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County and as a Teaching Assistant to Professor Verity Winship (Civil Procedure). He received three CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for earning the highest class grade in Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, and Doing Business in Japan. Before law school, Mr. Ballen was employed for two years as a Coordinator for International Relations at the International Affairs Division of the Nagasaki Prefectural Government, in Nagasaki, Japan. He received his B.A., cum laude, in international studies from Middlebury College.

Mr. Ballen is admitted to practice law in Illinois.
