Michelle M. McAtee, co-chair of the Real Estate Practice, focuses on all aspects of real estate transactions. Lenders, borrowers and real estate private equity sources seek her counsel on acquisitions and dispositions, complex commercial loans and capital market transactions, as well as in restructuring and workouts. Michelle has extensive experience in all aspects of real estate finance, including in loan participations. She also has extensive leasing experience, representing both landlords and tenants in office, retail, warehouse and industrial leases, and extensive experience in the areas of construction and development. Ms. McAtee represents clients in the acquisition and financing of retail, office, warehouse and multi-family housing projects across the country, and has worked on numerous cross-border transactions, including for clients located in Japan and South Korea.
In 2014, Ms. McAtee was honored by Bisnow as one of Chicago’s Power Women in Real Estate and was also recognized by the Illinois Real Estate Journal as one of the state’s leading women in commercial real estate. Ms. McAtee was named a “Rising Star” in real estate law by Illinois Super Lawyers in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2011, she served as chair of the Chicago Bar Association Real Property Law Committee and is a member of Commercial Real Estate Executive Women Chicago. She is also active in the Illinois Chapter of the Real Estate Investment Association. She has written on numerous topics related to her practice area.
Ms. McAtee is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Real Estate Securities Practices and its Tenant-in-Common Workout Task Force. She also serves the firm as a member of its Alumni, Diversity & Inclusion and Hiring Committees. Ms. McAtee’s pro bono work includes serving as a member of the Board of Advisors and the Legal Advisory Committee of The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
