Michelle M. McAtee, co-chair of the Real Estate Practice, focuses on all aspects of real estate transactions. Academic institutions, airport operators, real estate developers, railroad operators, lenders, borrowers and real estate private equity sources seek her counsel on construction and development matters, acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, complex commercial loans and capital market transactions, as well as in restructurings and workouts. Ms. McAtee has extensive experience in all aspects of real estate finance, as well as leasing experience, representing both landlords and tenants in airport ground and other lease arrangements, office, retail, warehouse and industrial leases. Her practice has a national and international scope, representing clients across the country and in cross-border transactions, including for clients located in Japan and South Korea.
Ms. McAtee was honored by Bisnow as one of Chicago’s Power Women in Real Estate and was also recognized by the Illinois Real Estate Journal as one of the state’s leading women in commercial real estate. Ms. McAtee has repeatedly been named a “Rising Star” in real estate law by Illinois Super Lawyers. She has served as chair of the Chicago Bar Association Real Property Law Committee and is a member of Commercial Real Estate Executive Women Chicago. She has written on numerous topics related to her practice area.
Ms. McAtee is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Real Estate Litigation and Counseling Practices She also serves the firm as a member of its Alumni and Pro Bono Committees. Ms. McAtee’s pro bono work includes serving as a member of the Board of Advisors, the Legal Advisory Committee and the Legal Assistance Office of The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
