Louis E. Fogel, a partner in the Patent Litigation and Counseling Practice, litigates patent matters in a variety of industries including pharmaceuticals, biological drugs, medical devices, chemicals and consumer electronics.  His experience ranges from pre-trial investigation and strategy development through appeal.

Mr. Fogel counsels clients in all aspects of patent litigation, including with respect to the Hatch-Waxman Act, the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act (BPCIA), and Inter Partes Review (IPR).  Clients also seek his guidance with negotiating and drafting settlement and license agreements as well as intellectual property transactions.

He has an active pro bono practice, which was recognized by the Family Defense Center when it honored him with its Community and Professional Service Award.

He is a frequent speaker and author on patent-related topics.

Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he has a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Chicago, where he conducted research in both organic and organometallic chemistry.
