Kevin J. Murphy is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department. He joined the firm in 2015.
Mr. Murphy has a broad range of litigation experience in state and federal court and has represented clients in all phases of complex commercial litigation. Mr. Murphy has represented clients in securities class action litigation, shareholder derivative litigation, ERISA and employment litigation, commodities and futures litigation, contract disputes and other complex civil litigation. He has also represented clients in government investigations, including investigations involving the securities laws and False Claims Act.
Mr. Murphy maintains an active pro bono practice with a focus on representing wrongfully convicted clients in post-conviction proceedings. Mr. Murphy assists in teaching the Wrongful Convictions Externship at Notre Dame Law School and has litigated federal civil rights cases for pro bono clients.
Mr. Murphy received his JD from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2014, graduating summa cum laude. In law school, he served as the executive editor of the Notre Dame Law Review and represented indigent felony defendants in Indiana court as part of the Advanced Criminal Justice Externship. He received his BS in Accounting and Finance from Indiana University in 2011, graduating with High Honors. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Murphy served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Paul J. Kelly, Jr. on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He currently serves as the President of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Chicago.
