Katharine R. Ciliberti is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of the Professional Responsibility practice group. Recently, Ms. Ciliberti has defended lawyers and law firms in legal malpractice suits and pre-suit disputes, contract disputes, cases involving claims of fraud and ethical rule violations, and fee disputes. She has also advised law firms with respect to ethical matters, fee-sharing agreements, advertising practices, and employment issues. Ms. Ciliberti was recently named an Illinois SuperLawyer “Rising Star” in the area of Professional Liability.
Ms. Ciliberti also has a broad range of complex commercial litigation experience. She has represented clients and contributed to important victories in multi-million dollar contract disputes of varying types, TCPA litigation, putative class actions, employment disputes, and shareholder disputes in closely held companies. Ms. Ciliberti has experience in both state and federal court, at both the trial and appellate levels, and in high-stakes internal investigations, arbitrations, and mediations. Ms. Ciliberti has second-chaired two trials and has significant experience in all aspects of trial practice.
In addition to her private practice, Ms. Ciliberti maintains an active pro bono practice and has worked on matters involving criminal appeals, civil rights matters, insurance disputes, and petitions for asylum.
Ms. Ciliberti received her B.S., summa cum laude, in 2009 from Vanderbilt University. In 2012, she received her J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of Michigan Law School. During law school, Ms. Ciliberti served as an associate and contributing editor for the Michigan Law Review and served on the Executive Board of the Henry M. Campbell Moot Court Competition.
Ms. Ciliberti is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and she recently served as a co-chair of the Young Lawyers Programming Committee of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.
