JX Quek is an associate who works with the firm’s Investigations, Compliance and Defense Practice.  Mr. Quek has experience in government and internal investigations spanning the insurance, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, and utilities industries.  He has particular experience with issues related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and has worked on FCPA matters ranging from the representation of individuals during DOJ investigations to due diligence review for international commercial agents in high risk jurisdictions.

Mr. Quek also has experience in markets and trading litigation and has worked on matters involving self-regulatory organizations and derivatives trading. He maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented clients in 1983 cases and asylum proceedings.

Mr. Quek speaks Mandarin Chinese with near-native fluency, and has assisted with witness interviews conducted in Mandarin.  He received his B.A. in political science from the University of Chicago in 2014, where he graduated with general honors.  He received his JD from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in 2017, with a Law and Technology Certificate.  During law school, Mr. Quek was a member of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal and participated in the Consumer Rights Workshop, where he assisted clients with a variety of consumer issues as part of a legal clinic for low-income local residents.
