Cristina Covarrubias is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of the Complex Commercial litigation, Class Action, and ERISA litigation practice groups. She also has experience handling litigation relating to breaches of contract, consumer fraud class actions, defamation and disparagement claims, trademark, and insurance coverage disputes. Ms. Covarrubias has experience in various aspects of litigation in federal and state court, from the discovery phase through trial and appeal.
Ms. Covarrubias received her B.A. in government in 2005 from Harvard University. She received her J.D. in 2011 from The University of Chicago Law School. During law school, she was president of the Latino Law Student Association and represented clients and worked on policy initiatives through the University of Chicago Edwin F. Mandel Legal Aid Clinic's Criminal and Juvenile Justice Project. Ms. Covarrubias maintains an active pro bono practice, which has included representing human trafficking victims seeking to recover unpaid wages, prisoners seeking to enforce their constitutional rights, and individuals seeking asylum.
Ms. Covarrubias is a member of the Associate Board of the Esperanza Health Centers, whose mission includes providing quality health care to thousands of low-income patients on Chicago’s southwest side.
