Christine M. Bowman is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and member of the Complex Commercial, Employment Law, Health Care, and Securities Law practice groups. She represents clients in a wide variety of commercial and regulatory disputes involving a range of legal areas.
Ms. Bowman has experience advising and representing clients in an array of complex commercial litigation matters at the state, federal, and appellate levels, both in criminal and civil actions. Ms. Bowman defends clients in matters involving securities fraud, False Claim Act, contract dispute, trade secrets, civil RICO, Sherman Act, and bid-rigging issues. Ms. Bowman also has experience handling internal investigations involving corporate compliance, employment matters, FCPA, securities fraud, and consumer fraud. In that capacity, she has represented clients in front of various governmental entities, including the SEC, Department of Justice, Congress, state regulators, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Federal Trade Commission.
In addition to her outside counsel advice, Ms. Bowman has twice been seconded to clients for in-house roles. She spent nearly a year working in-house with a Fortune 500 company as senior staff counsel managing the company’s litigation matters and providing day-to-day legal advice on issues such as consumer fraud, marketing, regulatory compliance, and corporate compliance. In 2017, Ms. Bowman was again selected for secondment to a recent spinoff of a Fortune 500 company where she advised on employment-related matters and defended the client against EEOC and NLRB actions.
In addition to her private practice, Ms. Bowman maintains an active pro bono case load, including defending clients in criminal felony cases at the state, federal, and appellate levels. Ms. Bowman volunteers at the Cook County Domestic Violence Court, assisting clients in obtaining orders of protection.
Ms. Bowman received her B.A., cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Indiana University. She received her J.D., cum laude and Order of the Barristers, from the University of Maryland School of Law, where she served as president of the Moot Court Board and a member of the school’s nationally ranked National Trial Team. Ms. Bowman is admitted to practice in Illinois and is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association.
