Anouck Giovanola is a partner in the firm's Litigation Department and a member of the Investigations, Compliance and Defense Practice, with experience in internal investigations, regulatory and criminal matters, securities litigation, and complex commercial litigation.

Recent work has included:

  • Conducting an internal investigation for a Fortune 500 financial services company.
  • Served as national counsel to a group of consumer installment lenders and loan servicers facing civil litigation and regulatory enforcement actions throughout the country, including a first-of-its-kind lawsuit brought by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
  • Representing executives of global financial institutions in connection with multiple money laundering and OFAC investigations by banking regulators, the Department of Justice and the New York County District Attorney’s Office.
  • Representing individuals in connection with domestic and international investigations of foreign exchange (FX) trading.
  • Representing an individual in connection with an internal investigation and an investigation by the New York State Department of Financial Services.
  • Representing an individual witness in connection with an internal investigation and prosecution for securities fraud.
  • Conducting a sensitive internal investigation for a major public university.
  • Representing a company in connection with federal criminal proceedings against former employees that defrauded the company.
  • Conducting an exposure analysis of a mortgage lender in connection with a Department of Justice fraud investigation.
  • Representing a hedge fund in connection with investigations by the SEC and the New York Attorney General.

Ms. Giovanola's pro bono practice has included:

  • Representation of criminal defendants in the Southern District of New York, including recently obtaining a complete dismissal of all charges against one defendant.
  • Representation of an individual being investigated by the New York County District Attorney’s Office.
  • Representation of an assault victim in connection with the prosecution of the alleged attacker.
  • Representation of an inmate alleging unconstitutional conditions of confinement.
  • Representation in immigration proceedings of two refugees seeking political asylum.

Ms. Giovanola is a member of the firm’s Women’s Forum Steering Committee.  She is also a member of the Urban Justice Center’s Domestic Violence Project Advisory Board as well as a member of the Stanford Law School Board of Visitors.  She presently serves as co-chapter chair of the Stanford Law School New York Alumni Chapter.
