AnnaMarie Van Hoesen’s practice is focused on entertainment, intellectual property and complex commercial litigation. With robust experience in both state and federal court, as well as arbitration, she represents individuals and corporations in a variety of disputes, including actions for copyright and trademark infringement, idea submission claims, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, profit participation and media torts, such as defamation, invasion of privacy and publicity rights.
In 2016, Ms. Van Hoesen was a member of a trial team that secured a $940 million jury verdict on behalf of a medical software company in a significant trade secret case, one of the largest trade secret verdicts in US history. She was also part of the team that represented News Corp subsidiary Move, Inc., in a trade secret action against online real estate portal Zillow, which settled for $130 million in favor of our client. In addition, Ms. Van Hoesen was part of a team that successfully defended the managing member of several LLCs against breach of fiduciary duty claims in a bench trial, defeating all claims against our client and securing judgment on our client’s cross-claims.
Ms. Van Hoesen is a member of the California Bar and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Central, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of California. She is also a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles.
Ms. Van Hoesen maintains an active pro bono practice, representing domestic violence victims in asylum matters in the Los Angeles Immigration Court and before the California Courts of Appeal. She also serves on the New Leadership Council for the Family Violence Appellate Project, a California-based nonprofit organization dedicated to pro bono representation of domestic violence survivors and their children in civil appeals.
