Angela M. Allen is a bankruptcy lawyer who focuses her practice on complex bankruptcy litigation, corporate restructuring and investigations. She also serves as a co-chair of the firm’s Alumni and In House Opportunities Committee.
Ms. Allen represents clients in complex bankruptcy and corporate restructuring matters, both in and out of court. She regularly counsels corporate clients in financially distressed situations and insolvency planning matters, and assists clients in protecting their rights throughout the bankruptcy process. She has extensive experience representing debtors, trustees and creditors in bankruptcy litigation matters, including fraudulent transfer claims, avoidance actions, and equitable subordination claims. She also has experience in investigations including conducting internal investigations and represented two court-appointed bankruptcy examiners; the Examiner in the DACCO bankruptcy case and the Examiner in the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy case.
Ms. Allen has a broad based practice focusing on all aspects of distress, including representing clients in mitigating counterparty risk. Her clients range from manufacturers dealing with distressed suppliers, to landlords and tenants negotiating distressed leases, to opportunistic purchasers of assets in 363 sales. In addition, Ms. Allen has experience addressing restructuring and liquidation issues arising in the financial services sector.
In addition to her bankruptcy and restructuring practice, Ms. Allen is active in both the community and the bar. Ms. Allen dedicates substantial pro bono time and efforts to legal issues involving the military and serves on the Illinois board of the USO. Ms. Allen is also active in the Turnaround Management Association and currently serves as the President of the Chicago/Midwest Chapter.
