Mr. Salander’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, real estate litigation and bankruptcy litigation. He particularly concentrates on litigating complex contracts and business tort disputes between sophisticated entities. He has represented REITs, private equity funds, hospital systems, nursing home companies, banks and public companies in a broad range of high stakes disputes involving real estate, media, health care, commercial mortgage-backed securities, technology, energy and complex financial transactions.
Mr. Salander also maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in criminal and civil matters at the trial and appellate levels, as well as assisting the Illinois Supreme Court’s Access to Justice Commission.
Before joining Jenner & Block, Mr. Salander worked as an investment banking analyst at JPMorgan, where he assisted corporations issuing convertible securities and performed extensive financial analysis. He later worked in real estate as a commercial broker, principal and property manager. He has experience valuing commercial real estate, executing transactions, negotiating leases and managing multi-family property.
