Partner Lawrence S. Schaner and Associate John R. Schleppenbach contributed this chapter in the first edition of this work, which is intended to be a starting point of reference for lawyers and clients involved in commercial disputes.  The book compares the litigation terrain in more than 30 countries – almost every major jurisdiction -- around the world, with each chapter devoted to one country, written in such a way that readers can make quick comparisons.  The contributors, all leading lawyers in their jurisdictions, provide practical and straightforward commentary on the inner workings of their respective legal systems.  The United States chapter written by Mr. Schaner and Mr. Schleppenbach includes information about both the federal and state court systems and about alternative dispute resolution, as well as trial practice.
