Client Advisory: Prelude to Regulation: EPA Announces Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Findings

In this advisory, Partner Gabrielle Sigel and Associate Michael R. Strong discuss the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (“U.S. EPA”) December 7, 2009 "endangerment finding" that greenhouse gases (“GHGs”) constitute an endangerment to public health and welfare and that GHGs emitted from motor vehicles cause or contribute to this endangerment.  According to the advisory, the U.S. EPA’s ruling clears the path for regulation of GHG emissions from vehicles and stationary sources under the federal Clean Air Act.
