"Prosecutorial Investigation Standards: Guidance Through the Thorny Thicket that Precedes Charging," Criminal Justice, American Bar Association

In the article Jenner & Block Partner Peter B. Pope discusses the “Prosecutorial Investigation Standards,” that the American Bar Association House of Delegates approved about three years ago. The Standards are one of the first attempts at a comprehensive set of best practices for prosecutors as they conduct investigations. The task force that drafted these standards was composed of prosecutors, defense attorneys, academics, judges, and other criminal justice professionals. Mr. Pope was the Deputy Attorney General in charge of the Criminal Division of the New York State Attorney General’s Office when he worked on the task force and he is a current member of the Standards Committee.
