“Collegiate Concussion Cases with Implications for the Sports Industry,” Sports Business Journal

In this article, Jenner & Block Partners Michael J. Nelson and Brienne M. Letourneau and Associate Maria C. Liu discuss player-as-plaintiff litigation, which, as they observe, is on the rise.  They highlight three bellwether cases, involving Notre Dame, the University of Texas and American University.  The cases – Schmitz v. NCAA and Notre Dame; Ploetz v. NCAA; and Bradley v. NCAA et al. – “show that the future legal relationship between student athletes and their schools, their conferences, and the NCAA is uncertain and evolving.”
