Partner Michael K. Lowman authored the most recent edition of Inside Information: Prevention of Abuse, part of Bloomberg BNA’s Corporate Practice Portfolio Series.  The handbook provides practical answers to questions about insider trading law.  It addresses the obligations of a US public company and its insiders arising from the possession of material nonpublic information concerning the company or its securities.  It also analyzes the prohibitions against insider trading, the scope of the company’s obligation to disclose material information and the formulation of a corporate compliance program.
Mr. Lowman, a partner in the firm’s Litigation Practice, represents public companies and their officers and directors in SEC investigations, securities class actions, individual suits by securities holders and derivative actions.  Prior to joining the firm, he served as Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel and Senior Counsel for the SEC’s Division of Enforcement.  During this time, he acted as primary trial counsel in a wide variety of civil and administrative enforcement actions.
