In this chapter, the authors discuss the role of corporate and outside counsel in information technology disputes.  They highlight the importance of an assessment of business objectives in information technology projects, the players involved, managing the transaction, dealing with the business and technical integration of disparate systems, typical contract provisions and information technology disputes.  The chapter is part of Successful Partnering Between Inside and Outside Counsel, published by Westlaw.  The chapter was written by Litigation Department Chair Craig C. Martin and Associates Jonathan A. Beitner and Sarah L. Futernick.  Gregory S. Gallopoulos, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of General Dynamics Corporation and a former managing partner at the firm, also served as a co-author of the chapter, as did former partner Justin A.
