In the July Insurance Law Update, Jenner & Block Partner Brian S. Scarbrough and Associate Caroline L. Meneau highlight Astellas US Holding Inc. v. Starr Indemnity and Liability Co. In that case, a judge for the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois denied a group of insurance companies’ motion to dismiss a pharmaceutical company’s claim seeking coverage for expenses related to responding to a government subpoena. “This decision will be of interest to policyholders seeking coverage of the often-significant costs of investigating and responding to government investigations, including subpoenas,” the authors explain. The Update was reprinted in Law360.
