FCC Adopts Two Notices of Proposed Rulemaking to Encourage Innovative Services and Technologies

In a recent blog post, Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) Chairman Ajit Pai declared February “innovation month.”  As promised, the FCC last week adopted two Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) aimed at encouraging the development of innovative technologies and services.  The first, the Spectrum Horizons NPRM, seeks comment on a plan to make spectrum above 95 GHz more readily accessible for new wireless services and technologies. The second, the Section 7 NPRM, proposes guidelines and procedures to implement section 7 of the Communications Act, which instructs the Commission to respond to applications proposing new technologies and services within one year.
