In this article, Jenner & Block Partner Amy M. Gallegos examines the firm’s recent victory for television studios over an Internet streaming service.  Amy explains that in September, 2013, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued a preliminary injunction barring FilmOnX from streaming copyrighted broadcast television programs over the Internet without permission from the studios.  She reviews the case and looks ahead, noting that appeals in similar lawsuits in other jurisdictions are pending.  She observes that Judge Rosemary Collyer’s “thorough, well-reasoned opinion is expected to be very influential as these issues wind their way through the courts.”
