Established IP and Defense and Aerospace Attorney John Runeckles Joins Jenner & Block as Counsel

LONDON, September 22, 2015 – Jenner & Block is pleased to announce that John Runeckles, an intellectual property attorney who also has unique experience of defense contracts and the defense industry, has joined the firm’s growing London office as counsel.  In addition to advising on the whole range of non-contentious IP matters, Mr. Runeckles has a significant litigation practice covering both patents and soft IP matters.  He also advises a wide range of defense and aerospace companies on government contract issues, both contentious and non-contentious. Mr. Runeckles will be a member of the London litigation and arbitration practice.

Mr. Runeckles previously worked at White & Case LLP for 16 years.  There, he helped to establish that firm’s IP practice as part of the rapid expansion the firm went through between 1999 and 2007.  Before entering private practice, Mr. Runeckles spent more than 25 years in the UK Ministry of Defence and the UK defense industry.

Earlier this month, former White & Case Partner Charlie Lightfoot arrived to Jenner & Block to lead the firm’s growing London-based litigation and arbitration practices.  Mr. Lightfoot is focusing his practice on complex cross-border disputes in a variety of sectors, including financial services, defence, energy and telecommunications.  An English-qualified solicitor advocate, he has appeared as advocate both in the English High Court and in many international arbitrations.

Mr. Lightfoot and Mr. Runeckles join a team of disputes and investigations lawyers that has steadily grown since the office opened in April 2015.  Eight lawyers are based in the London office.

Mr. Lightfoot said: “I’m really pleased John has chosen to join the growing London team at Jenner & Block. He is highly rated by clients and, alongside his intellectual property practice, has exceptional experience of the defense and aerospace industries in the UK, Europe and the US.”

Mr. Runeckles said:  “I am very excited to be able to continue the collaboration that Charlie Lightfoot and I have established over the last six years and to be given the opportunity to contribute to the highly regarded Government Contracts and IP teams at Jenner & Block.”
