Jenner & Block and Partners David J. Bradford, Steven R. Englund, Steven B. Fabrizio and Scott B. Wilkens are mentioned, variously, in articles in numerous publications, in connection with the Firm’s representation of Fox Television Stations, Univision Television Group, Inc. (Telemundo), the Public Broadcasting Service (New York City Channel 13/WNET), and the Tribune’s CW Television Network affiliate WPIX. On March 1, 2012, the Firm filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, on behalf of the broadcasters, against Aereo, Inc. Aereo, formerly known as Bamboom Labs, is a start-up company that intends to digitally stream live TV programming to subscribers who would watch it on the Web, mobile devices and internet-enabled televisions. The company plans to launch its service in New York City on March 14. The suit asserts claims for copyright infringement and unfair competition and seeks a permanent injunction blocking Aereo from retransmitting the plaintiffs’ programming, as well as compensatory and punitive damages. Other members of the Firm’s team on this matter are Partner Paul M. Smith as Appellate Counsel and Associates Joshua N. Friedman and Marina K. Jenkins. In addition to the articles specifically referencing Jenner & Block and the individual attorneys, there has been widespread media attention focused on the filing of the suit, generally.
