Jenner & Block obtained an order granting asylum on behalf of a Ukrainian refugee who fled to the United States to avoid religious persecution from right-wing nationalists.

The Firm's client, a retired Jewish schoolteacher, survived attacks including a hit-and-run automobile accident and the firebombing of her apartment before seeking asylum in America.

The Immigration Court judge who granted the application for asylum commended Jenner & Block Associates Laura Thomas and Clark Johnson for their concise, well-organized and effective witness examinations on behalf of their client.  The team was supervised by Partner Michael T. Brody.
