The Firm won an important victory in a case argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, which held that a joint lump sum offer of judgment made under Federal Rule 68 by multiple defendants is ambiguous and not effective to shift costs where one defendant is dismissed altogether.  Associate John R. Harrington led the Firm's team representing Harbor Motor in the case, Harbor Motor Co., Inc v. Arnell Chevrolet-Geo, Inc., supervised by Partners David J. Bradford and R. Douglas Rees and assisted by Associate Thomas P. Monroe.
