A day after the Illinois Supreme Court reversed itself in SWIDA v. National City Environmental, several major daily newspapers including the Wall Street Journal published articles analyzing the ruling's far-reaching impact in the closely-watched eminent domain case.

The Journal called the decision “the most important case in years to curb local government use of eminent domain powers...”, and quoted Firm Chairman Jerold S. Solovy as saying that the decision means that governmental agencies can no longer act as “an economic czar and decide who should own property and for what purpose.”
