Terri L. Mascherin, Partner in the Firm's Litigation Practice, has been certified as a member of the Illinois Capital Litigation Trial Bar.  Ms. Mascherin has been certified to act as lead counsel in capital cases. The Trial Bar was created by Illinois Supreme Court rule as part of the Court's reform of the capital litigation system in response to Governor Ryan's moratorium on executions; its goal is to require that defense counsel in capital cases have proper professional experience.  Attorneys seeking certification must possess certain standards of experience and ethics to receive approval.  The majority of the lawyers who have been certified as members of the Trial Bar to date practice in County State's Attorney's and Public Defender's offices.
