Jenner & Block was a proud supporter of the 3rd Annual “Blow the Whistle on Asthma” Walk on September 28 to benefit the American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago (now known as the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago). Partner Barry Levenstam, Corporate Chair of this year's Walk, organized the Jenner & Block team of more than twenty attorneys and staff who collectively raised over $10,000 for Asthma research and education programs.
“Over 17 million Americans suffer from asthma,” said Joel J. Africk (pictured, left), CEO of the Chicago Chapter of the American Lung Association and former Partner of Jenner & Block. “Even more frightening is the 55 percent increase in the asthma death rate over the last 20 years.”
Asthma, a chronic disease that causes sudden inflammation of the airways within a person’s lungs, can be life-threatening if not properly managed.
“It’s wonderful to see so many people – especially from the Firm – out to support this important cause. Events like this are critical to improving the health and well-being of those who suffer from asthma,” said Mr. Levenstam.
