Peter J. Brennan has joined Jenner & Block’s Chicago office as a Partner in its Litigation Practice.  Mr. Brennan joins the Firm after serving for many years as Associate General Counsel – Litigation for Sears, Roebuck and Co.’s corporate law department.

At Sears, Mr. Brennan supervised the company’s litigation involving its diverse business operations. In that capacity, he supervised antitrust, securities, class action, and other commercial and product liability litigation throughout the country.  During his tenure at Sears, Mr. Brennan handled additional assignments including supervising all the legal affairs for many of Sears businesses and advising on product safety and employment-related issues.

Prior to his work for Sears and during a legal career spanning almost 20 years, Mr. Brennan was at one time a member of the City of Chicago’s Law Department where he gained extensive trial experience defending the City in a broad array of matters covering commercial, constitutional, employment, civil rights, tax, tort and other disputes. Mr. Brennan began his career as an associate in the litigation department of a large New York Law Firm and as a staff law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Mr. Brennan obtained his juris doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was Managing Editor of The Tax Lawyer.
