Jenner & Block Partner and former Enron Task Force Director Andrew Weissmann received the U.S. Department of Justice’s highest award for “Exceptional Service” at the department’s awards ceremony on September 12.  Mr. Weissmann was honored along with other members of the investigative and trial team of the Enron Task Force, which secured the indictment of 30 Enron executives and obtained the convictions of Chairman Kenneth Lay, CEO Jeffrey Skilling and CFO Andrew Fastow.

In addition to his work for the Enron Task Force, Mr. Weissmann has been widely credited for formulating innovative corporate compliance agreements while a high-ranking prosecutor at the Department of Justice.  These agreements have become the national model for resolutions of post-Enron corporate criminal liability. He was also chief counsel to the FBI Director after stepping down from the task force and joining Jenner & Block in 2005.

The Department of Justice also honored more than 230 employees and 42 other individuals, many of whom are federal employees and law enforcement officers, for their extraordinary accomplishments. The 54th Annual Awards Ceremony was held at Constitution Hall in Washington D.C.
