Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC, a national consulting firm advising attorneys and legal employers on work/life balance, have named Jenner & Block a 2009 Working Mother & Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law Firm for Women for the second year in the row. The Firm was one of 50 law firms recognized for "their continued attention to work-life and women’s issues,” and urging “increased use of flex-time, reduced-hour and other family-friendly policies to ensure the future success of the profession.”

"Jenner & Block has been a longtime advocate for supporting, advancing and promoting leadership of our women attorneys in the Firm, in the legal profession, and in our community," said Jenner & Block Managing Partner Susan C. Levy. "We’re very proud to have received this prestigious recognition for the second year in a row."

“We salute the 2009 Best Law Firms for recognizing that making the legal profession work for women is good business for everyone,” said Carol Evans, President of Working Mother Media, in a statement.

Jenner & Block was selected as one of the 2009 Best Law Firms for Women based on the Firm’s workforce profile, family-friendly benefits and policies, flexibility, leadership, compensation, advancement and retention of women, among other criteria based on 2008 data.

Jenner & Block’s commitment to reduced hour programs for lawyers, its mentoring program for first, second and third year associates that pairs first year associates with senior associates and second and third year associates with partners, were also factors that contributed to the Firm again being recognized by Working Mother magazine.   The Firm also provides 18 weeks of paid maternity leave as well as emergency day-care facilities to all lawyers.

Also instrumental in helping the Firm earn this year’s recognition was Jenner & Block’s active Women’s Forum affinity group.  The Women’s Forum, Co-Chaired by Partners Debbie L. Berman and Deirdre E. Connell, fosters opportunities for professional, social and personal growth for all of the Firm’s women attorneys, communicates the Firm’s strong commitment to the success of its women attorneys, and enhances the visibility and recognition of the Firm’s leadership in support of women in the legal profession.
