Jenner & Block Partner Debbie L. Berman was recently named a 2007 Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping “Chicago’s most promising leaders” to develop community awareness among leaders in the Chicago metropolitan area.
As a fellow, Ms. Berman will join other corporate and civic leaders in a 10-month study of the challenges facing Chicago-area communities. The 36-member class will identify issues in Chicago’s economy, education, race and ethnic relations, housing, crime and violence, and healthcare. They will also meet with an array of Chicagoland leaders, including the mayor, other government officials, corporate CEOs and civic leaders.
According to LGC, fellows are selected for their “demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to civic and community affairs,” and because they “care about their communities and hope to make a difference.”
Ms. Berman is Co-Chair of the Firm’s Trade Secrets and Unfair Competition Practice. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors of Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago. She is also an active member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, EZRA Multi-Service Center, and Brandeis University Alumni Admissions Council. Recently, Ms. Berman was named to the prestigious Crain’s Chicago Business “40 Under 40” list.
