Gabriel A. Fuentes has joined Jenner & Block as a partner in the Firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice after five years of service as an Assistant United States Attorney in Chicago.   He was an associate and then partner at Jenner & Block from 1994-2001.

“Gabriel’s rejoining Jenner & Block is consistent with the Firm’s strong tradition of being an attractive destination for lawyers who have excelled in public service and are well-positioned to use their significant trial skills to serve the Firm’s corporate clientele,” said Gregory S. Gallopoulos, the Firm’s Managing Partner.

As a federal prosecutor, Mr. Fuentes conducted numerous jury trials involving financial fraud, narcotics, violent crime, and environmental law matters.  He also managed Title III wiretap investigations and litigated cases including international parental kidnapping, child exploitation, criminal tax, and securities fraud.

During his earlier seven-year period at Jenner & Block, Mr. Fuentes litigated or settled many complex commercial and civil matters, including those involving nationwide class actions and patent litigation.  He also maintained an active pro bono trial and appellate practice.

Mr. Fuentes is a 1993 graduate of Northwestern University School of Law, cum laude, and served as the Associate Note and Comment Editor on Northwestern University Law Review.  In 1994 Mr. Fuentes clerked for U.S. District Judge John F. Grady.  After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, Mr. Fuentes had worked for the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune as a journalist.

The veteran litigator is also an active leader in the community and the bar.  He has been a board member of the Chicago Council of Lawyers, and serves on the board of Esperanza Community Services, a nonprofit that aids developmentally disabled children and adults on Chicago’s Near West Side.  He has been active in leading nonpartisan political campaigns to promote the funding of public education in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
