Jenner & Block Elects 16 Associates to Partnership

On Wednesday, January 12, Jenner & Block elected sixteen associates to the partnership. They are Matt D. Basil, David R. Bennett, Gregory M. Boyle, Traci M. Braun, Elizabeth A. Davidson, Geoffrey M. Davis, Elaine J. Goldenberg, Tobias L. Knapp, Julie Montz Mandanas, John W. Newlin, Megan B. Poetzel, Suzanne J. Prysak, Michael C. Rupe, Jeremy M. Taylor, Matthew J. Thomas, and Mark P. Vrla.

Matt D. Basil
Matt D. Basil is a Partner in the Litigation, Arbitration: Domestic and International, Telecommunications, and Trade Secrets and Unfair Competition Practice Groups.  Mr. Basil obtained his J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University School of Law in 1997.  During the 1996-1997 academic year, Mr. Basil participated on the Loyola University trial competition team and was a Philip H. Corboy trial advocacy fellow.  From 1998-1999, Mr. Basil served as law clerk to the Honorable Charles P. Kocoras, United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

David R. Bennett
David R. Bennett is a Partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology Law practice.  Mr. Bennett received his J.D. from the College of William & Mary in 1997 and served as the Student Note Editor on the William & Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review.

Gregory M. Boyle
Gregory M. Boyle is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation, Construction Law, Professional Liability Litigation, and White Collar Criminal Defense and Counseling Practices.  Mr. Boyle obtained his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1997.  While at Harvard, Mr. Boyle was a line editor for the Harvard Journal on Legislation.

Traci M. Braun
Traci M. Braun is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation,  Products Liability and Mass Tort Defense and Class Action Litigation Practices.  Ms. Braun obtained her J.D. with honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1997.

Elizabeth A. Davidson
Elizabeth A. Davidson is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate, Corporate Finance, and Securities Practices.  She obtained her J.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1997 graduating cum laude and was part of the Order of the Coif.   She was also a member of the Kentucky Law Journal.

Geoffrey M. Davis
Geoffrey M. Davis is a Partner in the Firm’s Tax and Tax Controversy Practices.  Mr. Davis is a 1992 cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Boston University Law Review. Following law school, Mr. Davis served for two years as a law clerk for the Honorable William T. Hart, United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois.

Elaine J. Goldenberg
Elaine J. Goldenberg is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Practice.  In 1997, Ms. Goldenberg graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she was an executive editor for the Harvard Law Review. From 1997-1998, Ms. Goldenberg served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jed S. Rakoff, United States District Court, Southern District of New York. From 1998-1999, Ms. Goldenberg served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sandra L. Lynch, United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Tobias L. Knapp
Tobias L. Knapp is a Partner in the Firm’s Corporate, Securities, and Mergers & Acquisitions Practices.  Mr. Knapp received his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Boston University Law Review, in 1997.  In 1997, Mr. Knapp also received his M.A.L.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Julie Montz Mandanas
Julie M. Mandanas is a Partner in the Firm's Real Estate Practice.  Ms. Mandanas obtained her J.D. from University of Illinois, magna cum laude, in 1997.

John W. Newlin
John W. Newlin is a Partner in the Firm’s  Estate Planning and Administration Practice.  He obtained his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1994.

Megan B. Poetzel
Megan B. Poetzel is a Partner in the Firm's Litigation, Securities Litigation, Reinsurance, and Arbitration: Domestic and International Practices. Ms. Poetzel graduated from the Chicago-Kent College of Law with high honors in 1997 and was part of the Order of the Coif.  She served as an executive articles editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review.

Suzanne J. Prysak
Suzanne J. Prysak is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation, Class Action, and Securities Litigation Practices.  Ms. Prysak joined Jenner & Block in 1997 after graduating magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School where she was elected to the Order of the Coif.

Michael C. Rupe
Michael C. Rupe is a Partner in the Firm’s Bankruptcy, Workout and Corporate Reorganization Practice.  He obtained his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1997.  He also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable R. Guy Cole, U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit.

Jeremy M. Taylor
Jeremy M. Taylor is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Practice.  Mr. Taylor graduated summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1997, where he served as Executive Articles Editor of the Mississippi Law Journal.  During his time at the University of Mississippi, Mr. Taylor clerked for the Honorable Neal B. Biggers, Jr. in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi.

Matthew J. Thomas
Matthew J. Thomas is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Practice. Mr. Thomas obtained his J.D. from the University of Michigan in 1997, where he graduated cum laude.

Mark P. Vrla
Mark P. Vrla is a Partner in the Firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology Law and Trade Secrets and Unfair Competition Practices.   Mr. Vrla earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois in 1997, where he graduated magna cum laude.
