An arbitrator last week awarded Jenner & Block client Ole K. Nilssen $23.4 million in light of a 2002 district court ruling that found MagneTek, Inc. had violated several of the renowned inventor’s patents for electronic lighting ballasts, used to power fluorescent lamps.  The binding arbitration decision marks the end of a seven-year battle for Mr. Nilssen to enforce his intellectual property rights.

The Jenner & Block team representing Mr. Nilssen in this matter included Partners Raymond N. Nimrod, John E. Titus, Reginald J. Hill, Aaron A. Barlow and David R. Bennett and Associates Stephen M. Geissler and Jonathan Hill.
