Approximately 500 people gathered May 15 in Flossmoor, Illinois for this year’s Walk with Israel as part of the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago’s celebration of Israel Solidarity Day.
Jenner & Block Partner Debbie L. Berman chaired the walk, one of eight neighborhood walks in the Chicago area designed to promote solidarity with Israel and build unity among Chicago’s larger Jewish community. Together, the walks rallied more than 10,000 people.
The day commenced at Parker Junior High School as Ms. Berman welcomed the crowd, which included special guest State Senator Maggie Crotty from Oak Forest, Illinois.
Children enjoyed exciting activities and their own Kids Course in lieu of the longer 5.7 kilometer walk, chosen in honor of Israel’s 57th anniversary.
All proceeds raised for Israel Solidarity will help to fund summer camps in Israel for children living in communities that have been affected by violence, ensuring that they enjoy educational and creative activities in a safe environment.
