Jenner & Block Partner Larry P. Ellsworth was recently appointed the Chair of the District of Columbia Bar’s Broker-Dealer Regulation and SEC Enforcement Committee.

The committee, which is part of the Corporation, Finance and Securities Law Section of the DC Bar, sponsors programs relating to the regulation of securities, with special emphasis on broker-dealer regulation and SEC enforcement issues, often including senior members of the SEC staff.

Mr. Ellsworth is a member of the Firm’s Securities Litigation, Corporate, White Collar Criminal Defense and Counseling, and Securities Practices. Prior to joining Jenner & Block, Mr. Ellsworth was Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Trial Unit.

During his 12-year career at the SEC, Mr. Ellsworth never lost a case, even though he carried one of the heaviest caseloads and tried a number of the SEC’s most difficult cases. In 2004, Mr. Ellsworth received the prestigious Stanley Sporkin Award, the highest award for enforcement efforts at the SEC, wherein the SEC recognized him as one of the best trial counsel ever to represent it.

Mr. Ellsworth previously served as Chair of the D.C. Bar’s Administrative Law Section and Chair of the D.C. Bar's Access to Government Information Committee.
