Jenner & Block was recognized by the Yale Law Women organization as one of the top ten family-friendly law firms in the country.

Yale Law Women (YLW) is a student organization at Yale Law School devoted to promoting the interests of women in law schools and the legal profession. In its fourth annual survey of law firms listed in the Vault Top 100 Law Firms list, YLW collected information on participating firms’ practices and policies, including access to and use of parental leave, emergency and on-site child care, part-time and flex-time work policies, billable hours and compensation practices, and alternative career programs.

Firm responses were weighted based on a 2009 survey of Yale Law School alumni who were asked about the importance of each category of family-friendly policies and practices.

“We are honored that Yale Law Women has recognized our family-friendly policies and practices,” said Jenner & Block Managing Partner Susan C. Levy. “Jenner & Block has a long history of using creative approaches to support all attorneys at our firm. We believe that providing a family-friendly workplace is one of the many elements that help us to continue delivering exceptional service to our clients and provide an opportunity for all of our attorneys to build thriving practices and fulfilling careers.”

Partner Deirdre E. Connell, who along with Partner Debbie L. Berman co-chairs the Firm’s Women’s Forum affinity group, noted in a Chicago Daily Law Bulletin article about the YLW recognition that the Firm “works to provide policies that make it one of the most family-friendly firms.” The article noted that over 20% of the Firm’s partners are women, which is higher than the average percentage of female partners for firms that participated in the YLW survey.

Earlier this month, Jenner & Block was recognized by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC as one of the best law firms for women for the second year in the row.
