When Jenner & Block opened its Los Angeles office in 2009, the country was in the midst of the Great Recession.  Starting with just two lawyers – Partners Rick Richmond and Brent Caslin – the office quickly set out to build its ranks with top talent, establish itself in a highly competitive market and carry forward the firm’s long-established core values, including its deep commitment to pro bono and public service and dedication to diversity and inclusion.

Today, our Los Angeles office is the hub of the firm’s West Coast platform serving clients in numerous award-winning practice groups such as Content, Media and Entertainment, Professional Responsibility and Complex Commercial Litigation, among others.  The office’s lawyers are consistently recognized among the top practitioners in the city and the state, and serve as leaders in California’s communities.

“What’s most important about our Los Angeles office is that we consistently deliver excellence in the most complex and demanding legal matters across California and the United States,” said Michael McNamara, Los Angeles office managing partner.  “We are all part of a vibrant, collaborative and exciting office that is known and respected, and we’re looking forward to the next 10 years and beyond.”

In a profile about the anniversary, the Daily Journal highlighted our Los Angeles office’s ability to deliver excellence for clients, commitment to pro bono and public service, and “consistent dedication to diversity and the promotion of women” as reasons for the office’s success.

In the accompanying video, several Los Angeles-based partners discuss the early challenges facing the office, its rapid growth and plans for the future.
