Associate Maria C. Liu was featured in the most recent edition of University of Michigan Law School’s Law Quadrangle about her experience on the University of Michigan debate team. In the article “Law Training in the Fast Lane: The Interwoven History of U-M’s Debate Team and Michigan Law,” Ms. Liu thanks debate for preparing her for life as a lawyer. “Debate taught me how to approach issues in multiple ways—because nothing is black and white. It helped me interpret the law and think more creatively.”
Ms. Liu is a member of the firm’s litigation department where she represents clients in complex, high-stakes litigation. She has represented clients in all stages of litigation, including both jury and bench trials, in breach of contract litigation, insurance coverage matters, consumer class actions, disputes involving trade secret misappropriation and breaches of fiduciary duties and other complex civil litigations. Ms. Liu also serves on Jenner & Block’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Associates Committee, and is co-chair of the firm’s Asian Forum.
