Partner Emily Loeb named to LGBT Bar’s “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40” List

Jenner & Block Partner Emily M. Loeb is recognized in the LGBT Bar Association’s 2019 list of the “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40.”  The LGBT Bar established the award to recognize outstanding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender legal professionals under age 40 who have distinguished themselves in their field and demonstrated a commitment to LGBT equality.  Ms. Loeb will be among the honorees recognized at an wards lunch at the 2019 Lavender Law Conference in Philadelphia, PA.

Ms.  Loeb is a partner in the firm’s Government Controversies and Public Policy Litigation practice and the Investigations, Compliance and Defense practice.  She has broad experience representing companies and institutions facing multifaceted government investigations and provides strategic advice for clients through each stage of an investigation and adjacent litigation.

Advancing equality for LGBT individuals was a core component of Ms. Loeb’s work at the US Department of Justice (DOJ), where she served for almost four years. During her time in the Civil Rights Division, she oversaw the Division’s LGBT initiatives.  This included being part of the DOJ team charged with implementing the Supreme Court’s decision in United States v. Windsor, which struck down part of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).  Ms. Loeb received the Department’s highest award for employee performance, the Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service, in 2014 for her work as part of the team.  Within the firm, she is an active member of the LGBT Forum affinity group.
