Partner Ian Heath Gershengorn Discusses the New US Supreme Court Term

Law360’s Pro Say podcast featured Jenner & Block Partner Ian Heath Gershengorn on October 5, 2018.  Titled “High Court Preview: Big Cases to Watch this Term,” the episode explored the October 2018 term’s most important cases, the petitions the court could grant and how this term might differ from last year's.

In the podcast, Mr. Gershengorn discussed Gamble v. US, a case involving double jeopardy with possible implications for Robert Mueller's investigation; Apple v. Pepper, a case involving a group of consumers who accuse Apple of monopolizing the market for iPhone apps that could have a major impact on e-commerce providers; and Gundy v. US, a case that lends the justices a chance to rein in the power of the US Congress to delegate authority to the executive branch.

Mr. Gershengorn is chair of the firm’s Appellate and Supreme Court Practice and is one of the nation’s premier Supreme Court and appellate advocates.   Before joining the firm in 2017, he served in the Office of the Solicitor General at the US Department of Justice, first as Principal Deputy Solicitor General and then as Acting Solicitor General, a position he held from June 2016 until the end of the Obama administration in January 2017.
