Firm Recovers $120 Million at Trial for Olin Corporation

Jenner & Block recovered $120 million for Olin Corporation during a jury trial in a high-stakes environmental insurance and contribution case. The trial involved complex coverage claims under a 1970 excess policy for remediation and defense costs at 13 manufacturing and hazardous waste disposal sites. It follows multiple prior victories for Olin in a 34-year-old dispute in the Southern District of New York, which has involved dozens of environmental sites across North America.

Multiple media outlets reported on case; for example, Law360 (subscription required) and Mealey’s (subscription required).

The team representing Olin was led by Litigation Department Chair and Partner Craig C. Martin and included Partners Peter J. Brennan, Matthew J. Thomas, Michael J. Nelson, Allison A. Torrence, and Clifford W. Berlow in Chicago as well as Brian S. Scarbrough and Matthew E. Price in Washington, D.C.; and by Associates Jordan C. Blumenthal, Gabriel K. Gillett, Skyler J.
