Jenner & Block Partner Nancy C. Libin is quoted in a discussion about the latest controversy surrounding Facebook. Titled “Facebook Could Use Some Friends,” the installment of Marketplace focused on implications of news that a company called Cambridge Analytica improperly siphoned the data of millions of Facebook users to create political profiles. In an interview with reporter Kimberly Adams, Nancy explains that Facebook creates advertising profiles about its users by combining data that it obtains from users’ profiles with data that it can collect from third-party data brokers “to create rich, personal profiles of users that are very useful for targeted advertisers.”
